08/20/2009: On Thursday, in Daykondi, Afghanistan, assailants searched lal Mohammad, a civilian and after finding a polling card on him, beat him with the butt of an assault rifle and cut off his ears and part of his nose with a knife as part of punishment for voting. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed the Taliban was responsible.
