Incident Summary:

07/25/2010: An assailant set fire to playground equipment at Dar El-Eman Islamic Center in Arlington, Texas, United States. The attack followed an incident of vandalism several days earlier. The assailant reportedly attempted to start a fire in the mosque itself before targeting the playground, but was unsuccessful. In October 2011, Henry Clay Glaspell was sentenced to 14 months in prison, having pled guilty in February 2011 to carrying out the attack. Glaspell cited hatred of Arabs and people of Middle Eastern descent as a motivation for the attack. There were no casualties reported; the property damage was estimated at $12,000.
