Incident Summary:

08/05/2012: Assailants, including a suicide bomber, with firearms and rocket launchers crossed the border from Iraq and attacked the Gechimli military post in Chukurca district, Hakkari province, Turkey. This was one of four related incidents on military posts in Hakkari on this day. Nineteen people were killed, including six soldiers, two village guards, and 11 gunmen, in the attack, and at least 15 soldiers were wounded. No group claimed responsibility for this incident; however, sources attributed it to the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK).
