Incident Summary:

04/25/2014: Assailants abducted two German nationals, Stefan Viktor Okonek and Herike Diesen, near Bataraza municipality, Palawan province, Philippines. The Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) claimed responsibility for the incident and demanded that Germany retract its support for United States (US) airstrikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), in addition to making a ransom demand. Both hostages were released on October 17, 2014.
