Incident Summary:

01/01/2015: An assailant threw two hand grenades at police guarding the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul city, Istanbul province, Turkey. When the grenades failed to detonate, the assailant opened fire on the officers. No one was injured in the attack and the assailant was subsequently arrested. The Devrimici Halk Kurtulus Cephesi (DHKP/C) claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that it was carried out in retaliation for the killing of a teenager by police during an anti-government protest in 2013.
