Incident Summary:

04/09/2016: Assailants attacked soldiers in Banguindan, Basilan, Philippines. At least 21 people, including 18 soldiers and three assailants, were killed and 51 people were wounded in the attack. Jundul Khilafah (Philippines) and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident and sources attributed the attack to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG); however, the government denied the involvement of the Islamic State or Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
