Incident Summary:
03/09/2017: Assailants abducted two DAR Petroleum Operating Company oil well operators from India at the Adar Oilfields in Guelguk, Northern Upper Nile, South Sudan. The hostages were released unharmed on March 30, 2017. The Sudan People's Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) claimed responsibility for the attack and stated that the hostages failed to obey the group's warnings.

Criteria 1

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
