Incident Summary:
04/18/2017: Assailants kidnapped five tourists who were kayaking along the Apaporis River in Vaupes, Colombia. The hostages, three United states citizens, one French citizen, and one Spanish citizen, were released unharmed on April 22, 2017. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) dissidents.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
