06/24/2018: Assailants abducted Mevlut Bengi, a shopkeeper, in Dogubeyazit, Agri, Turkey. Bengi was killed on June 26, 2018. The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) claimed responsibility for the incident and accused Mevlut Bengi of being a government spy. Sources also stated that Bengi worked as an election observer during Turkey's parliamentary and presidential elections, which took place on June 24, 2018. Additionally, sources noted that the victim was a supporter of the Justice and Development (AK) Party.
