Incident Summary:
07/17/2018: Assailants raided the house of Sadiq al-Qadi. a tribal leader, and attempted to kidnap him in southwestern Ibb, Yemen. The assailants failed to abduct al-Qadi, but later detonated explosive devices at his house. At least eight people, including one of al-Qadi's relatives and seven assailants, were killed and four assailants were injured in the ensuing clash. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Houthi extremists.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
