Incident Summary:

11/06/2019: An explosive device was thrown at the home of Omar Mohamed Elmi, the Lower Shebelle deputy governor, in Afgoye, Lower Shebelle, Somalia. Elmi was killed in the attack. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident and stated the attack was carried out in retaliation for the victim's role in assisting African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces in the area.
