Incident Summary:

01/09/2020: Assailants abducted three University of Maiduguri students along Damaturu-Maiduguri Road in Jakana, Borno, Nigeria. One student was released a short time later while another hostage was executed on January 22, 2020. The whereabouts of the third hostage is unknown. The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) claimed responsibility for the attack.
