Incident Summary:
06/03/2020: An assailant stabbed a police officer along Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, New York City, United States. After stabbing the officer, the assailant was able to steal his service weapon and shoot and injure two additional officers before the assailant was shot and injured by other officers responding to the scene. Dzenan Camovic, who allegedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" before carrying out the attack, was indicted in connection with the incident. Authorities stated that he possessed materials regarding violent extremism and specifically materials related to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
