Incident Summary:
06/30/2020: Assailants armed with clubs and machetes attacked non-Oromo civilians and businesses in Dodata, Dera, Arsi, Oromia, Ethiopia. At least seven people, including three police officers, were killed and an unknown number of people were injured in the attack. Additionally, several residences and businesses were set on fire during the assault. This was one of nine related attacks which occurred in the aftermath of the assassination of Hachalu Hundessa, a musician and civil rights activist. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources noted that the assailants had a list of residents' names and their ethnicities which they used to target non-Oromo residents.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
Criterion 2
There must be evidence of an intention to coerce, intimidate, or convey some other message to a larger audience (or audiences) than the immediate victims.
