Additional Information There is doubt that this incident meets terrorism-related criteria. Sources suggested that the assassination may have been carried out under orders of the Chechen prime minister Ramzan Kadyrov. A tape, noted by sources as odd in format and content, was released by individuals identifying as distant relatives of the victim and claiming to have killed him because he disrespected Kadyrov, who had nothing to do with the attack. The victim's wife seemed to doubt the veracity of the tape, noting that her husband had been an informant against the Chechen regime.
