1/21/1998: In a series of attacks that might have been related, members of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) planted a bomb on a busy street in Algiers, Algeria. Before detonating, the device was spotted by an Algerian civilian who notified people to leave the area. The blast caused no casualties and very little damage.
