Incident Summary:

04/00/1998: The Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) kidnapped Donald Lee Cary, a retired Exxon executive, near his ranch in Bogota, Colombia. Cary was released after more than five months of captivity on September 6, 1998, the day of his 64th birthday. The FARC dropped him off at the Red Cross facility outside Medina, southeast of Bogota. It was not known whether a ransom was paid.
