Incident Summary:

09/17/1998: Hundreds of barrels of crude oil spilled into the waters of four rivers located near the border area of Colombia and Venezuela as a result of an attack by unknown perpetrators on the Cano Limon-Covenas oil pipeline. Although the National Liberation Army (NLA) was suspected, no group claimed responsibility for the attack, and there were no injuries or fatalities. The affected rivers were the San Miguel, the Sardinata, the Tarra, and the Catatumbo.
