Additional Information Though the target was unclear, possible targets included the nearby Army Unit post, the Director of a nearby brick plant (who was also a deputy in the People's Assembly of Dagestan), or a gas pipeline in the area. Although no group claimed responsibility for placing the bomb along the road, federal authorities noted that they had found anti-Russian literature a few days earlier in the area, which contained instructions to subversive groups of the so-called "Rebel Imam Army" to organize subversive operations against Russian troops.
