Incident Summary:

05/28/1999: In Russia, unknown perpetrators poured gasoline on the doors of a Cherkessk apartment belonging to the Editor-in-Chief of the "Den Respubliki" (Day of the Republic) newspaper and then lit a fire. The blaze was extinguished before anyone was hurt or any serious damage occurred to the apartment building. Local authorities believed that the attack had something to do with the upcoming elections in Russia's republic of Karachay-Cherkessia.
