Incident Summary:

06/12/1999: Two hundred gunmen tried to seize the Chechen National Security Service (SNB) building in Grozny, Chechnya, Russia. Armed with assault rifles and grenade launchers, the gunmen sought to secure the release of their comrades, who had been arrested for banditry and hostage-taking. Six SNB servicemen were wounded during the attack, three of them critically, and between ten and fifteen attackers were also killed.
