08/20/1999: Police opened fire and killed a suspected Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber as he attempted to blow up a military vehicle in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The man was hit by officers as he ran towards their road block. A civilian was killed in the firefight.
