9/05/1999: A car bomb exploded in Haifa, Israel. The car bomb was in a parking lot; authorities believe the bomb was intended for a different location but detonated prematurely. The driver of the vehicle, a member of the Islamic Movement, was killed. Five people were later arrested in connection with this incident and a similar bombing in Tiberias on the same day. The incident occurred less than 24 hours after Israel and Palestine signed a deal that reinitiated the peace process.
