Incident Summary:
01/01/2000: In a series of related incidents, numerous bombs were detonated by unidentified attackers around Chittagong, Bangladesh, in an attempt to disrupt Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) elections on January 3, 2000. In this incident, at approximately 7:00 pm local time, perpetrators threw bricks at the on-duty police in the port area, injuring one. Sporadic bombings on the port also occurred throughout the evening.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
