01/17/2000: Ejercito de Liberación Nacional (ELN – Army of National Liberation) bombed 21 power towers and power lines in the Antioquia department belonging to Public Enterprises of Medellin and Electrical Inter-Connection, Inc., ISA causing millions to be without power. ELN was protesting the nationalization of one of the power companies and hoped to pressure the government to establish a demilitarized zone for negotiations.
