Incident Summary:

05/30/2000: On May 30, 2000, Sergei Zverev was killed. He was an assistant to the pro-Moscow mayor of Grozny, Chechnya. His car exploded when it ran over a landmine and then the assailants attacked the car with gunfire. Grozny mayor Supyan Mokhchayev was also in the car. He sustained injuries but survived the attack. Officials say Chechen rebels of the Wahhabis community were responsible, specifically the Akhmadov brothers.
