Incident Summary:

7/2/2000: Suspected members of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) stormed the Golokpur tea estate in Kailasahar Subdivision of North Tripura, India. Bipin Behari Tandon, the manager of four tea gardens, was abducted and held for ransom. The attackers demanded ten million rupees in exchange for Tandon. Sources state that the abduction was intended to "step up pressure" on the tea garden management.
