Incident Summary:

7/9/2000: Suspected members of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) killed four government officials near the city of Jijel, in Jijel province, Algeria. The attackers opened fire on the victims as they were traveling in a car. One of the dead was the mayor of Erraguene, a village near Jijel. The two young sons of the mayor were injured in the attack. The assailants fled to the woods.
