7/26/2000: Supporters of coup leader, George Speight, took two New Zealand pilots hostage at Vanua airport, in Cakaudrove province, on Vanua Levu island, Fiji. The hostage-taking occurred in response to the arrest of Speight, but the hostage-takers did not issue any immediate demands.
