Incident Summary:

11/01/2000: A member of the Royal Ulster Constabulary lost a leg and part of his hand from a booby-trap bombing in Castlewellan, County Down. The bomb was hidden inside a traffic cone and exploded when the policeman moved it. Unknown Loyalist Republican paramilitaries were blamed for the attack.
