Incident Summary:

12/06/2000: In Matang Baru, Indonesia, suspected plainclothes soldiers surrounded aid workers' vehicles, ordered four people out of their car at gunpoint, and took them hostage. Three of the hostages, Idiss Yusuf, Ernita binti Wahab and Bakhtiar, were killed after being beaten and interrogated. The forth hostage, Nazaruddin Abdul Gani, escaped. The unknown perpetrators claimed that the aid workers were "trying to give the rebels spirit to fight against us."
