2/2/2001: Nine hikers were found shot execution-style in a ravine near Purace National Park, Cauca Department, Colombia. The hikers had began their week-long hike on February 2 and were not heard from again. Authorities speculate that it may have been a purely criminal act; however, the attack happened in an area of heavy guerrilla activity. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Criteria 1
