06/07/2001: National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) rebels killed eight civilians in Cassamba, near Catabola, Angola. The perpetrators attacked while the civilians were searching for food in Cassamba. Savimbi's men accused the civilians of being the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) informants.
