Incident Summary:

06/15/2001: A missile was fired at two cargo planes belonging to the World Food Program (WFP), an organization associated with the United Nations, that were carrying food to Kuito, Bie province, Angola. No one was injured in the attack, and no damage was done. Although no group claimed responsibility for the attack, the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) rebel group had claimed responsibility for a similar attack that occurred a week before. The Program suspended flights in the area of Kuito until an investigation into the incident was completed.
