07/04/2001: The Red Hand Defenders (RHD), a Protestant militia, shot a Catholic man named Ciaran Cummings in retaliation for the election of two Sinn Fein members to the council. The two men drove up to him on a motorcycle and the passenger shot him while he was waiting for a ride.
