Incident Summary:

07/22/2001: A bomb exploded at Santa Ana Catholic church in East Jakarta, Indonesia. The explosion injured 72 people who were attending Sunday mass services, among a congregation of 800 people. Taufik Abdul Halim was apprehended following an explosion targeting a church the following week, and he was convicted in connection with this and two other attacks. Authorities indicated Taufik was affiliated with Kumpulan Mujahidin Malaysia and Jemaah Islamiyah, but he claimed to be part of a small group of Malaysian Muslims acting on their own.
