Incident Summary:

08/05/2001: Six soldiers from the Central Reserve Police Force were killed and one was injured by a powerful bomb that exploded at Baur Bazaar in the Bongaigaon District of Assam State, India. Suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland militants detonated the improvised explosive device (IED) as the soldiers passed the area. The convoy was traveling from Amguri to Bongaigaon at the time of the attack.
