08/11/2001: Five members of the Alem family were killed and three others were injured in an attack by Islamic extremists in Ouled El-Djilali, Chlef Province, Algeria. The assailants burst into the home and shot the victims. Authorities blamed the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) and the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) for the incident.
