09/24/2001: Six people were killed by an explosion believed to be caused by a trigger or pressure mine as their taxi was heading towards a military airfield in the northern Jaffna Peninsula in Sri Lanka. Members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were thought to be responsible for the attack. No group claimed responsibility.
