12/3/2001: Two unidentified gunmen shot and killed Judge Javier Cote Laurenz as he was leaving his house in Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia. The judge had been responsible for the prosecution of paramilitaries and was currently handling a case that involved the son of Adan Rojas, a suspected paramilitary leader. No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
