Incident Summary:

12/18/2001: National Liberation Army (NLA) rebels kidnapped six people at a fake checkpoint outside of Ocana, Colombia. The incident came less than 24 hours after a unilaterally declared "Christmas Truce" by the ELN. In an subsequent rescue operation two of those kidnapped were rescued, and two ELN rebels were killed. It was not certain if the four other hostages were released.
