Incident Summary:

05/03/2002: The armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic group HAMAS claimed responsibility for the death of one Israeli officer and the injury of another in the West Bank town of Nablus. In a statement, HAMAS stated that Ali Mansur al-Khaduri, a “martyr” in their Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, provided covering fire against Israeli soldiers and was then killed. An Israeli security force told Agence France Presse that Khaduri was wanted in connection with the March 27, 2002 suicide bombing in a Netanya hotel in northern Israel where 28 people were killed.
