Incident Summary:

09/06/2002: Suspected Islamic militants killed Sheikh Abdul Rahman, a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate for the State Assembly, as well as his driver, Ghulam Mohiuddin Teli, and his nephew, Nazir Ahmad Sheikh. The perpetrators began shooting at the victims as their convoy reached Gori on the Bandpora-Daripora road in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Another nephew of Rahman, Abdul Aziz Sheikh, was injured and later died after being rushed to the hospital. Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh and another person were also injured in the attack. Jamaat-ul Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the incident.
