Incident Summary:

9/17/2003: Unknown perpetrators, believed to be affiliated with the Islamic insurgency in Algeria, remotely detonated bombs targeting a military patrol on a search operation in Tefrant, Algeria. The assailants subsequently fired their automatic weapons at the patrol. In total, nine soldiers were killed. The Islamic extremists also stole the victims' weapons.
