Incident Summary:

10/12/2003: A car bomb exploded near the Baghdad Hotel which was used by members of the Iraqi Governing Council and Americans in Baghdad, Iraq. A suicide attacker drove the car past a security checkpoint before stopping and detonating the bomb. Six people were killed and 35 others were wounded. Al Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement issued to the press that referenced Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades.
