Incident Summary:

01/09/2004: 18 boat passengers were killed in Warri, in continued ethnic tensions in the oil rich town in southeastern Nigeria. All 18 victims are members of the Ijaw tribe, and a tribal rival, the Itsekiri, are suspected of carrying out the attack. Ongoing peace talks between the rival groups seem to be breaking down as the two groups fight to control the sizeable oil industry in warri. Four passengers are still missing, however, no details could be obtained as to their condition or whereabouts.
