Incident Summary:

07/07/2004: A mortar attack by suspected insurgents in Baghdad targeted the personal residence of Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, as well as the office of his political party, the Iraqi National Accord Movement. A nearby house was also hit in the attack. All of these structures were located within the Green Zone. Six Iraqis were injured, including two policemen in the incident. There were no fatalities. The mortar strike came after Mr. Allawi signed into law new security measures. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi claimed responsibility.
