Incident Summary:

08/23/2004: Six soldiers belonging to Algeria’s People's National Army (ANP) were killed and 13 others wounded in an ambush near Thenia, Algeria. ANP forces were responding to reports of an attack against civilian farmers in the village of M’sala, approximately 10 kilometers outside of Thenia. The attackers destroyed two ANP vehicles using homemade bazookas in the attack as well. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
