Incident Summary:

10/18/2004: John Martinkus, an Australian journalist with SBS Television, was held kidnapped from outside his hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, and held hostage for over 20 hours by a group claiming to be Ba'athists. Martinkus was released after the perpetrators read his publications about the war online and decided they were objective and fair and that Martinkus did not have ties tothe United States-led military coalition.
