01/02/2005: 26 people were killed and 6 others injured, including eighteen members of Iraq’s National Guard, when two suicide bombers detonated a 4x4 vehicle packed with explosives alongside a bus in Balad, north of Baghdad, Iraq. The event was thought to be an insurgent response to the upcoming general elections; but no group claimed responsibility for the attack.
